Carte de la province du Berry et de la Généralité de Bourges . . .
Decorative map of the province of Berry (or Berri), a historical province of France under the Ancien Régime.
The map is centered on Bourges, the capital of Berry, which is highlighted in red. Berry corresponds roughly to the southern part of the Centre-Val-de-Loire region. Located in the geographical center of France, Berry is one of the oldest agricultural areas and owes its unity more to history than to geography. Today, it draws its unity from some cultural elements that are specific to this region, and are expressed in particular in gastronomic specialties. The administrative structure of Berry disappears definitively with the French Revolution.
The map includes an elegant title cartouche and a description of the Province of Berry in a box in the lower right corner.
