Description

Beautiful chromolithograph depicting the Exposition of 1878, by Fougère after the architect Stephen Sauvestre. Inaugurated on May 1, the Exposition was built around the Trocadero hill and the Champ de Mars on nearly 75 hectares, with the Palais du Trocadéro (also called the Palais de pierre) and its gardens on the south bank, the Palais de l'Exposition (called the Palais de fer) and the rue des Nations on the north bank, the two banks communicating via the Iéna bridge, widened for the occasion.
