Charles Delhommeau (1883-1970) specialised in animal sculpture and was inspired by the animals of the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, where he worked on live models, as did many artists of the time. He exhibited at the salons of the Société Nationale and participated in the exhibitions of the Société des Artistes Animaliers. Charles Delhommeau also collaborated with the Manufacture de Sèvres and enjoyed great popularity during the inter-war period. In this sheet, the artist masterfully captures the features of an antelope, synthesising its form and attitude.
