A.L.S. (s.l.n.d. [Calais, after 1765]). 1 p. in-4. Address, red wax seal preserved. The paper is missing above the address, the paper is caught in the seal. 

He evokes his great success, Le Siège de Calais, patriotic tragedy represented for the first time at the Comédie-Française on February 13, 1765. He thanks the President [Guillaume] Pigault de l'Epinoy for the sending of "[...] the Gazette Anglaise; and I will consider as a real gift the copy that you offer me of the translation of the Translation of my Tragedy [...] they make pledges of the friendship of my new fellow citizens [...]".

Adds under his signature "citizen of Calais".

BUIRETTE DE BELLOY, Pierre-Laurent

Comedian and playwright, born in Saint-Flour on November 17, 1727 and died in Paris on March 5, 1775. 
He was successful with the tragedies Zelmire (1762), Le Siège de Calais (1765) and Gaston et Bayard (1771). Thanks to the latter he was elected member of the French Academy.
