First printings of Gavarni's lovely Fantaisie, with the frontispieces and plates in double condition.
The texts by Méry on finery (volume 1) and jewels (volume 2) are followed respectively by two studies by Count Foelix: Histoire de la mode and Minéralogie des dames.
The illustration consists of a frontispiece repeated in each volume in two states (in black and on chine applied) and 31 hors-texte plates (15+16) engraved on steel by Geoffroy after Gavarni, colored on wove paper in beautiful frames cut in lace (with the title in the lace), mounted on ochre paper, and a suite of these 31 engravings in black on chine.
