In-8º of : 3 ff.n.ch., pp. vij-viij, pp. 9-96, a large folding plan engraved by E. Voysard, with the view of the Palace of Rastatt. In sheets, sewn, under replacement covers, and later dummy folder. Only one copy in the CCF (BnF).
Unique and very rare edition of this official collection of testimonies in the dark affair of the assassination of two of the French plenipotentiaries at the end of the Congress of Rastatt (September 1797-April 1799) between the young French Republic and the representatives of the Empire and Prussia, intended to settle several issues related to the Treaty of Campo Formio. Claude Roberjot and Antoine Bonnier d'Alco were killed in an ambush probably organized by Austria on March 28, 1799.
This is one of the very few examples in European diplomacy where plenipotentiaries were assassinated.
