In volume 1, the author deals with the topography of the city, the hygiene of its inhabitants, Islamism, its influence and more generally the character, morals and medical practices of the Turks of the time. In volume 2, the author makes the link between this analysis and the plague.
The work includes a folding map of the surroundings of Constantinople at the end of volume 1.
