Description

Reduced reprint of Samuel Graf von Schmettau's plan of Belin.

This plan of Berlin is gridded from A to H horizontally and from 1 to 8 vertically. It is an exact reduced reprint of Schmettau's first state plan, originally published in four sheets, but without the views. On both sides of the plan, a detailed two-column alphabetical legend in German and French lists most of the places mentioned by Schmettau, including streets, buildings, hospitals, churches, chapels, and squares. Some of the properties mentioned are owned by important individuals or families, such as the Kollner, Koppen, Baumgarten, Bodische, Dorffling, and Grappendorff families, as well as the palaces of Margrave Henry, Prince Elector, and Margrave of Brandenburg.
