The map is oriented to the west and encompasses the regions of Velay, Auvergne and Dauphiné. It includes a table with the positioning of the main cities on the map and a note indicating the distances between them. On the map, Lyon is represented with its surrounding wall and with a different typography in order to emphasize it.

This map was made according to the operations of the gentlemen of the Royal Academy of Sciences in 1767.
